Sometimes I look at my life and I wonder how much more random it could get; I am currently in Austin, Texas, apprenticing under an executive producer who is contracted to a Christmas production out here, and then we're off to Anaheim tomorrow to see another show he's been working on. I'm basically a fly on the wall, soaking in a totally foreign world of budgets and staging and props and lighting, payroll, hosting VIPs. Wearing blouses. Very strange stuff. This little trip has already been such an adventure and I feel really lucky to be here. I'd also like to say, for those of us who live in the north mid-east (or whatever), that I am wearing cropped pants each day, no jacket and ate my brisket sandwich and creamed corn on a patio yesterday. So that's also thrilling.
My friend Ari is living in Austin right now, so he met up with me and whisked me out of the suburbs and took me downtown for a whirlwind mini tour. First stop was Infynit Studio to see Guy Forsyth and The Hot Nut Riveters perform a live taping for Infynit Hour, which showcases local Austin musicians. Such a treat. [Sorry for this really poor quality photo; I snuck it in when no one was looking!] We did a quick tour of Sixth Street, which has a load of different music venues, and The Firehouse, which features a hidden entrance to the bar via bookcase.
Tonight boasts some inventory to wrap up this Austin show, and it's off to Anaheim tomorrow! Hope you're keeping warm and well in this cozy month. xo
