I just came across this one from Stylist Magazine, and after thumbing through a few of them, it's easy to see why this is a list of best sellers. I think you should be sold on a book after the first five pages; maybe that's a strict rule, but life is too short to read a mediocre novel! For instance, I fell in love with my favourite book of all time, The History of Love, after reading the very first page, which starts like this: "When they write my obituary. Tomorrow.
