We were four girls on a train leaving Paris. We had nowhere to be and the whole world at the edge of our boots. We went to see a church with windows that were taken apart during the war to protect the artwork of the stained glass. When we got there we walked the dark corridors of the cathedral and the choir was practicing and filling up to the tall ceiling. We were young and new and had thunder in our blood to take it all on, see it all, drink it up.
